Spotlight | Three Recent Makeup Purchases

Recently I felt in the mood to treat myself to some (more expensive) makeup items that I’ve been dying to try out for a while. Read more about my three recent makeup purchases below – ratings included.

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows in Supermodel

A couple of weeks ago there was a massive 20% sale on everything in the Alsterhaus in Hamburg. (This is where you can get all the expensive stuff, ranging from makeup and designer bags to delicatessen). I took the chance to finally get myself a Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Brows Eyebrow Gel.

I have medium brown hair with some hints of auburn, which made it immensely difficult to find a suitable colour. Linda was way too light and ashy, and I felt that all other colours were just a tad too dark. I usually prefer to pick a shade just slightly lighter than my natural hair colour – this way it’s less difficult to screw up your brows by being too heavy-handed. But because Charlotte Tilbury didn’t carry such a shade, I went for the Supermodel one. And it works beautifully, although I have to be super careful to not go overboard. One of my most recent favourites – I have been using it every day and don’t regret this more expensive purchase.

Absolute 10/10

Too Faced Hangover RX Replenishing Face Primer

That same day I felt like making another splurge – this time at Sephora. After trying out numerous primers from the drugstore and high street (which sadly all didn’t really work out for me), I decided to go for the Too Faced one. And boy, do I love it. The only thing that really bothers me is its disgustingly chemical coconut scent. Luckily, this one fades quite quickly and doesn’t linger on the face. Other than that, it’s a fabulous product – hydrating, slightly illuminating (not shimmery, just giving a glowing-from-within look), and it seriously makes my makeup apply more beautifully and last longer.

L’Oréal Lash Paradise Extatic Mascara in waterproof

Last week I flew into Cambridge for one day, because I had an interview at the university. Of course I couldn’t keep myself from going into Boots and purchasing something I’ve wanted to try out for ages. When I saw that Fleur de Force used a waterproof version of the L’Oréal Lash Paradise, I had to have it. My eyelashes are very stubborn and will only hold a curl if coated with waterproof mascara. (Also, I’m super paranoid with normal formulas because I usually end up looking like a panda.) This one is fabulous and may be my new favourite. Keep your eyes out for a more detailed review soon!

10/10

Do you own any of these items? What are your thoughts on the L’Oréal Lash Paradise mascara? Do you think there’s a difference between the normal and the waterproof version? Also, please let me know if you have any recommendations for hydrating primers – I want to try out some more (maybe ones that are less scented, haha).

Have a great weekend everyone!
